Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Tiemenguan (at the 259 km road sign of the Nanjiang Highway) of the eastern suburb of Korla City, Xinjiang. It was named by Liao Zhuoting et al. in 1990.


Lithology and Thickness

Clastics and Limestone. A suite of regionally strongly metamorphosed Ca-rich clayey fine-grained clastic rocks and carbonate rocks. Divided into two members at Tiemenguan. Lower member: dominated by granitic-gneiss, intercalated with minor schist, forming the steep Tiemenguan ridge. Upper member: dominated by a suite of amphibole-schist and siliceous marble in interbedded occurrence. Exposed thickness 3250.4 m
